I been have knee pain and keep me up at and im in a powerchair how can i be a candidate for knee surgery..Thank you
Its complicated
What an exciting time 🤣🤮🥶🥳
Had L5 S1 fused and 3 vertabra in my neck fused in 2016 at the age of 55 Now I have severe adjacent disk disease and facet joint issues . I sure wish I would have been able to get multiple opinions but living in Arkansas you are extremely limited cause Baptist Health has bought out all the doctors and surgeons in this state At the age of 63 I've become pretty much a cripple in pain with very limited resources
Oh yeah. Now flat back syndrome and scoliosis from spine collapse
Is there anyone who came do phase surgery . Entire spine damaged2 surgeries ACDF and Laminectomy l4-5 1994 . Done everything you said many times over 20 yrs . C2 pushed into cord . Low back unbearable . On pain meds 10 yrs . No problems stopping . Va cut meds to nothing .on verge of looking at options to check out and end this 24 hr pain 8 opinions . One neuro surgeon said “I wouldn’t know where to start and I might hurt you ‘ one recent wants 18 thousand. Ash fir PFP prior to surgery . UCLA wants a morphine pump . Too LA surgeon wants more stabilized neck prior to more surgery . VA surgeons say too complicated for them . See my point . Just retired from nursing after 40 yrs due to this inability to move walk or sleep pain
Man I thought i had problems That really sucks.work your whole life like me to be taking out by spinal issues I feel your pain
OrthoVirginia, I really liked this video! I subscribed too!
Pain relief recovery
Recovery time
I’m having a shoulder replacement on June 7,2024. I’ve had bi-lateral knee replacements 20 years ago and love them. I’ve been pain free for over 20 years.
I'm impressed and looking forward to surgery.
3 months now tricep long head at the scapular and elbow. I'm only 31 years old. I tried 3 weeks then strengthening and it came back. I've not gym for another 2 weeks now I try using resistance band yesterday light band and flared it back up tenderness and stiffness came back spasms should I rest it for longer? More weeks?
Most people think that partial knee replacements are utter rubbish and never last long.
I had a partial replacement in March of last year and did great for the first 2 months and now I can't use it hardly at all! I walk with a cane and they refuse to do a revision surgery due to my age and my knee is crawling with arthritis..I regret getting it done
When can I shower following reverse shoulder replacement
Dr. Novak - I’m 71 yrs old, overweight but in pretty good health. I’m having reverse shoulder replacement surgery in about three weeks on my non-dominant arm. I have arthritis in most of my joints and just had a total knee replacement five months ago. I’m not sporty but did start scuba diving when I was 57. I love seeing the beauty of what’s underwater! But two surgeons told me that it would be too risky to dive after this replacement because it could slip/ dislocate. The surgeon I eventually chose seems very good, does the 3D scan in advance, and said that we’d have to see how I progress; at least he did not rule it out. What’s your opinion about this?
congrats, how was your power
I thoink you ffailed to mention that the ACL and PCL get removed in TKR where they stay in tact with a PKR
I have problems with several of my cervical areas and I am scheduled to talk to the surgeon in a month.. But right now I have severe pain in my left shoulder, but it is not the front or even the back, it is right there at the shoulder area at the cuff area I guess you call it. I can’t sleep on that side because of the pain, it hurts to drive, to lift or and put a coat on so now I am wondering if it is all related to the nerve or should I get it checked out to see if it could be something else also.
Great questions and very comprehensive answers. Of course they are not as medically deep as would be in a teaching environment but sure was helpful for me.
I see the job in upwork You will send work for me
Hii
Hii
I have pins/needles, tingling and super sensitive to clothing and burning in left thigh, leg and feet, weakness, tingling in burning and super sensative to clothing, numbnes in toes in th right leg All these symptoms are in the front part of the legs from side of hips I have had L4-S1 surgery and C6-T4 surgery as well.
Was just diagnosed with this
3:34 “…you cannot have chronic ankle instability without an ankle sprain” Ahh yes of course, I’ll just tell my connective tissue disorder that the ligament laxity isn’t real 🙄 Quite unfortunate hearing a doctor make this statement…
Thanks for this helpful post!
Thank you! Very informative!
A wonderful group of of people asking the right questions questions. 2024 April 24 I had complete reverse right shoulder replacement at Oregon’s OHSU. I have osteoporosis and only for one year at age 72. I am a choreographer and costume maker who hopes to be able to complete my last dance called MoonDance performed outdoors at a summer Full Moon. 🌕
Well this was fun to watch after googling my father’s surgeon’s name!
How much weight can you left after? Let's say six months surgery
Great information. Thank you, Dr. Hughes.
-Despite Weak Evidence, Spinal Cord Stimulators Are Big Business American Family Physician, Jan 2024 by Kenny Lin, MD, MPH. “These devices come with a high price tag ($30,000) and potential complications that include electrode migration, hematoma formation, infection, spinal cord injury, and cerebrospinal fluid leak.” “Most studies reported outcomes at follow-up dates of one month or less; only one study reported outcomes at six months.” “Overall, the body of evidence was assessed as having significant bias, including selection bias (five studies), performance and detection bias (10 studies), attrition bias, and selective reporting bias.” “The data do not support the use of spinal cord stimulation to manage low back pain outside of a clinical trial, and it is unclear if spinal cord stimulation has long-term clinical benefits to reasonably outweigh the costs and risks of surgical intervention.” ‘In a 2020 letter to health care providers, the FDA reported that over the preceding four-year period, it received “a total of 107,728 medical device reports related to spinal cord stimulators intended for pain, including 497 associated with a patient death [representing 428 deaths], 77,937 with patient injury, and 29,294 with device malfunction.” That seems like an unacceptably high rate of unintended effects for a device with modest benefits.’
These are interesting facts coming from a doctor. I would be curious as to learn more about what is the most bizarre situation you have seen a patient presented to you at work? Like a injury that was uncommon for the situation expressed by the patient?
I have had two hip surgeries back to back for hip impingement/labral tear back in 2019-2020. I did all the PT and everything I was supposed to do. I continue to have swelling and lots of pain to this day. I have had one injection from my primary dr back in March 24. It hurts to move, walk, sit, stand, get in and out of my car. Nearly impossible to climb stairs. Can’t sleep on that side. The last time I saw my surgeon bc of the pain, he said there is nothing more he can do. So what do I do now?
I had my injection done back in November but my Orthopedic doctor didn't even think it would work and didn't use ultrasound to do the injection. It took awhile but it helped with the pain I'm thinking of getting another one since I do have some discomfort at night still not exactly pain but more like soreness. I think I need another one because I had a fall on that hip 4 years ago plus my right hip has bursitis too but not as bad as my left hip. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. My pain was 0 after the injection for about three weeks than it came back worse for another three weeks than after that it slowly got better
Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you so much. I half half a knee bone on bone. Injections were working for years, but not the last time. However i am 15 pounds heavier this time. Seems like when i had the 15 pounds off i didn't have much of a problem with that knee. I used to jog and would like to get back to that. If i were thinner and didn't have a partial knee replacement, I still couldn't run on it?
I’ min a similar situation and am considering the PKR. I’m a runner and have exhausted all injections (pCR, Stem cells, gels, cortisone) and am meeting my 5th Ortho doctor for yet another opinion. Wishing you the best of luck. I still plan to run after PKR if I have it done.
I have had both the TKA and Revision done on the right knee. 2 years ago the medial side of my left knee meniscus essentially shredded, MRI showed fissures and delamination of the cartilage in the medial compartment. Going to see my Ortho tomorrow and wondering if a partial is an option or just do the total.
Thanks a lot
Let me bring up something everyone should think about. Went in 07 for my first ever hospital visit and was having my left knee replacement and got staph and was on a pic line for 2.6 months. Have had 3 more surgeries and another replacement and today my ROM is 60. Check the history of the hospital you use.🥴
😢😢😢😢😢44uuuuuuu🎉sss
That sounds awful! I agree with you on choosing your hospital. I hope you are doing well now!
